Function of Position:
The Building Science and Systems Educator will provide instruction to students on building science, energy engineering, and building systems. This role is ideal for experienced professionals who want to contribute to workforce development and education in the building performance field while maintaining flexibility in their schedule.
*This is a part-time, temporary position
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver training sessions tailored to students and professionals entering or advancing in the building performance industry.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities to support hands-on and applied learning.
- Assess student progress through feedback, assignments, and reviews.
- Provide concise reports and summaries for training sessions, as needed.
- Stay current on best practices, emerging technologies, and relevant regulations in building science and systems.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in building construction processes, with an emphasis on retrofitting for energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction.
- Strong understanding of HVAC system operations, building automation, and controls.
- Proven experience delivering technical instruction or training within the building performance sector.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, architecture, construction management) or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as AEE Certified Energy Manager (CEM), BPI Energy Auditor, or similar credentials.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in building systems (design, commissioning, operations, or maintenance).
- Familiarity with project management practices and documentation.
- Experience developing instructional materials or curriculum for technical training.
- Knowledge of local and state energy codes, building standards, and regulations.
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Additional Information:
Starting Salary: $42.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Course Dates: April 07 through May 28th
Course Time: 8:30am-3:00pm
